Milton Restaurant Week is back Sept. 14-20, with 14 restaurants offering set-price menus ranging from $25 to $75 per person. But not every menu is actually a deal.

The Roundabout, a Milton newsletter written by Ryan Hall, priced each Restaurant Week menu against the restaurant's own regular offerings and found only three genuine discounts among the 14 participants.

The steepest cut belongs to The Union Restaurant on Providence Road, where a $25 three-course lunch runs about 30% below à la carte prices. Sandwiches alone on The Union's regular menu cost $13.70 to $15, making the three-course set the cheapest prix fixe in the event.

Tres Lunas Tequila Bar on Crabapple Road comes in at $30, roughly 25% off regular pricing. Hyde Brewing at Heritage Walk also lists a $30 menu, about 14% off, though the comparison is softer because its featured ahi tuna tacos don't appear on the regular menu.

Four restaurants price their Restaurant Week menus within a few dollars of ordering the same dishes à la carte, according to The Roundabout's analysis. Milton's Cuisine & Cocktails ($45), B&B Tavern Crabapple ($39), Lily Sushi Bar ($48) and Vice Steak Bar ($75) all offer set menus built from items already on their regular menus at similar prices.

The median set menu among the 12 restaurants with published prices is $42 per person. Dinner for two at that midpoint runs $84 before tax and tip.

Three kitchens are using the week to plate dishes they don't normally serve. 7 Acre Bar n' Grill on Hickory Flat Road is offering Bordeaux-braised short ribs over comté risotto at $55. L'Antoinette at Heritage Walk has a seared redfish not on its regular menu; the only fish it normally sells is a $56 halibut, one dollar more than its entire three-course Restaurant Week price. Smoke on the Farm on Crabapple Road is turning its $17.50 Broast on Toast sandwich into a plated three-course meal at $30.

For diners on a tighter budget, Vintage Pizzeria on Broadwell Road is running a $16 pasta special rather than a full prix fixe. Playa Bowls on Crabapple Road offers a $5 sixteen-ounce smoothie before noon.

Two of the 14 participants hadn't posted full pricing as of this week. Nahm Fine Thai Cuisine on Windward Parkway had not posted its menu as of Tuesday, Sept. 1; the city's deadline for restaurants to publish menus is Friday, Sept. 4. 'Cue Barbecue on Ga. 9 has posted a menu built around a new Chicken Salad Club sandwich, served plated with fries, stew and banana pudding, but hasn't listed a price for it.
