Milton Restaurant Week kicks off Sept. 14 and runs through Sept. 20, with 14 restaurants offering fixed-price menus ranging from $25 to $75 per person according to a dish-by-dish price comparison published by local newsletter The Roundabout. But whether those menus actually save diners money depends heavily on which restaurant you pick.

The clearest deals, per The Roundabout's numbers:

The Union Restaurant on Providence Road came out on top, with a $25 three-course lunch that the newsletter calculated runs about 30% below what the same items would cost individually — notable given that sandwiches alone start at $13.70 on the regular menu. Tres Lunas Tequila Bar on Crabapple Road followed at roughly 25% off with its $30 menu. Hyde Brewing at Heritage Walk listed a $30 menu that The Roundabout put at about 14% off, though it noted the comparison is less precise since the featured ahi tuna tacos aren't part of Hyde's normal lineup.

Where the math is close to a wash:

Four restaurants — Milton's Cuisine & Cocktails ($45), B&B Tavern Crabapple ($39), Lily Sushi Bar ($48) and Vice Steak Bar ($75) — priced their Restaurant Week menus within a few dollars of what the same dishes already cost à la carte, the newsletter found.

Dishes you won't see any other week:

Three kitchens are treating the event as a chance to serve food that's off-menu the rest of the year, per The Roundabout. 7 Acre Bar n' Grill on Hickory Flat Road plated Bordeaux-braised short ribs over comté risotto at $55. Smoke on the Farm on Crabapple Road turned its $17.50 Broast on Toast sandwich into a plated three-course dinner at $30.

Cheapest ways in the door:

For diners who'd rather skip the prix fixe altogether, Vintage Pizzeria on Broadwell Road is running a standalone $16 pasta special instead of a full set menu — the newsletter flagged it as the cheapest sit-down option of the week. Playa Bowls on Crabapple Road is offering a $5 sixteen-ounce smoothie before noon.

Across the 12 restaurants with published pricing, The Roundabout calculated a median set-menu price of $42 per person, putting dinner for two at roughly $84 before tax and tip.

Two participants hadn't finalized pricing when the newsletter published its analysis. Nahm Fine Thai Cuisine on Windward Parkway had not posted a menu as of Tuesday, Sept. 1 — the city's deadline for restaurants to publish is Friday, Sept. 4. 'Cue Barbecue on Ga. 9 has posted a menu built around a new Chicken Salad Club sandwich, served plated with fries, stew and banana pudding, but had not listed a price for it.
