Fulton County recorded 339,039 votes ahead of Tuesday’s general election, the largest total among five counties serving North Atlanta, according to Georgia Votes’ Nov. 1 update.
The total includes 328,681 in-person early votes and 10,358 accepted mail ballots. In-person early voting ended Friday, Oct. 30, though absentee ballots continue to arrive.
An earlier Oct. 31 snapshot showed Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Cherokee and Forsyth counties had collectively recorded 976,459 votes. All five were ahead of their comparable 2022 early-voting counts, the North Atlanta Star reported.
Gwinnett posted the largest percentage increase in that comparison, with 237,456 votes — 25.4% above its count at the same point before the 2022 midterm. The increase measures the number of ballots, rather than the percentage of registered voters participating.
Statewide, Georgia Votes reported 2,826,146 participants as of Nov. 1, including 2,705,109 in-person voters and 121,037 mail ballots. Georgia surpassed its previous midterm record for in-person early voting on Oct. 29, according to the secretary of state’s office.
The figures remain unofficial. They show when people voted, without revealing their candidate choices or establishing what final turnout will be.
For residents who still plan to vote in person, polls open Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Anyone in line by 7 p.m. may vote.
Voters must use their assigned Election Day precinct, which may differ from an advance-voting location. Residents can confirm their polling place through the state’s My Voter Page and should bring an accepted photo ID.
Domestic absentee ballots must reach the county elections office by 7 p.m. Tuesday. A postmark alone will not qualify a late ballot. Voters may hand-deliver completed ballots to the elections office; early-voting drop boxes are no longer available, according to the secretary of state’s reminder.
Eligible military and overseas voters have a separate Nov. 6 receipt deadline for ballots postmarked by Election Day.
Residents who requested an absentee ballot but have not returned it can ask election officials to help cancel it so they can vote in person.
