Drivers on Hopewell Road in Milton should plan for slowdowns Thursday, Nov. 5, as crews stain new stamped concrete at two roundabouts.

Contractors will start at the Hopewell-Thompson roundabout around 9 a.m., then move to the Hopewell-Bethany Bend intersection, Appen Media reported. At both locations, workers will stain the new stamped concrete to match the existing surface. No full road closures are expected, and the work should wrap up by 4 p.m.

Most construction at the two roundabouts was completed over the summer. The city is using them as a starting point for new safety countermeasures. Once officials assess how well the changes work, they plan to bring similar improvements to other parts of Milton.

Appen Media reported the roundabout work is part of Milton's Safety in Action initiative, which the city says will further efforts to make Milton roads safer. Separately, the city's Safety in Action project page describes the broader initiative as funded by a $1 million federal Safe Streets for All grant that Milton received in Fiscal Year 2024. That grant has restrictions on how the money can be spent and cannot be used for construction activities, according to the city page. The overall project is set to finish in 2026.

The Safety in Action page lists countermeasures being developed for the Hopewell corridor roundabouts. Those include traffic calming devices, striping changes, signage updates and other low-cost improvements. The city plans to collect data to gauge their effectiveness.
