A Brazilian-born, Swiss-trained pastry chef is opening a Paris Baguette bakery café on Alpharetta's Lake Street on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

Franchisee Layne Alkaasamani will operate the location at 4119 Lake St. in downtown Alpharetta, according to WhatNow Atlanta. The café will be her second Paris Baguette in Georgia. She opened her first in Kennesaw.

"I'm looking forward to bringing that to Alpharetta and giving people a place to come in, enjoy fresh pastries, artisan breads, and coffee, and spend time together," Alkaasamani said in a Sept. 3 WhatNow article. She added that she wants the café to feel like part of the community.

The menu will include pastries, artisan breads, croissants, cakes, coffee and sandwiches, according to WhatNow. Highlighted items include a strawberry soft cream cake, strawberry croissant, chocolate supreme croissant, pain au chocolat, New York-style cheesecake, red velvet cake and the Paris Baguette Crookie, a pastry combining a croissant and a cookie.

Paris Baguette operated nine locations across Georgia as of WhatNow's Sept. 3 report. Those include stores in Atlanta, Buford, Duluth, Athens and Savannah. The Alpharetta opening would bring the state total to 10.

Alkaasamani told WhatNow she plans to open two or three more locations across the state.

The chain has more than 4,000 units worldwide and over 300 in North America, according to 1851 Franchise. The brand expects to open more than 100 additional cafés in 2026.

No grand opening event details or hours of operation have been announced.
