Alpharetta and Milton families can fill an entire Saturday with Halloween events on Oct. 24, with trick-or-treating at Avalon in the morning and pumpkin carving in Crabapple by afternoon.
The day starts at Avalon, where trick-or-treating runs from 10 a.m. to noon along The Boulevard. Families can pick up a map at Concierge listing every participating store, according to Avalon's event page.
Activities and offers from retailers and restaurants will fill The Plaza. Chick-fil-A plans a pop-up selling breakfast and lunch bites near Concierge, and a Halloween-themed dance show by Rhythm n' Shoes caps the morning at noon. The event runs rain or shine.
By afternoon, the action shifts north to Milton's downtown.
Carvin' in Crabapple returns to Broadwell Pavilion, 12615 Broadwell Road, from 4 to 7 p.m., according to the City of Milton. Attendees should bring their own pumpkins. The city provides carving and painting tools.
Kids can make Halloween-themed arts and crafts, bounce on inflatables, get their faces painted, have balloon animals twisted and enter a costume contest with prizes across several categories. A DJ will spin music, and a large LED screen will show college football.
Four food and drink vendors are confirmed: Cakes by Anna, King of Pops, Little Sober Bar and Tamalion, which serves Mexican fare. A popcorn bar rounds out the snack options.
Across the street at the Crabapple Government Center parking lot, the Milton Police Department hosts its Trunk-or-Treat at the same time. Businesses and nonprofits can sign up to hand out candy from decorated vehicles. Officer Scott Sanford of the Milton Police Department is the contact for trunk-or-treat questions, according to the city's event page.
Last year's Carvin' in Crabapple drew an estimated 1,500 people, according to Appen Media. Tables along Broadwell Road held safe knives, paints, markers and stickers, and kids lined up for a giant inflatable slide while families watched SEC football on a big screen.
Community Outreach Manager Emily Salerno is the city contact for Carvin' in Crabapple questions and can be reached at [email protected].
Adults get their own Halloween outing the following week. Avalon's Trick or Drink takes over The Plaza on Friday, Oct. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m., with specialty cocktails and costumes, according to Avalon's event listing.
