Forty-four Fulton County Schools earned spots on the 2026 America's Healthiest Schools list, a national recognition announced in August by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.
The district was among 1,376 schools recognized across 35 states and Washington, D.C. All 44 Fulton County campuses were honored in the Improving Nutrition & Food Access category, which recognizes schools that work to boost meal participation, collaborate with teachers on nutrition education and partner with community organizations to strengthen families' access to healthy food.
Creek View Elementary School in Alpharetta is among the recognized campuses, according to the Alliance's published list. The district's announcement, posted Oct. 26, did not name individual schools.
"This recognition is an honor that belongs to every nutrition professional serving our students each day," Alyssia Wright, Fulton County Schools' executive director of school nutrition, said in the district's statement.
Wright said the district believes healthy meals play a critical role in academic achievement.
Behind the recognition is a kitchen operation that prepares many menu items in-house. The district's nutrition team makes fresh vegetables, salads and scratch-prepared recipes daily. Student favorites include Teriyaki Chicken Woodles, nachos, roasted chicken wings and seasonal specialty entrées. The department also sources fruits, vegetables and meats from local and regional producers.
Students help shape what lands on the tray. Through the annual Student Choice Food Challenge, more than 160 students from across the district taste and vote on potential new recipes. The district said breakfast and lunch options have been added to menus based on that feedback.
Fulton County Schools also offers daily vegetarian options for breakfast and lunch. Students with documented food allergies or medical dietary needs can receive meal accommodations through a process involving parents, healthcare providers and school staff.
The full list of all 44 recognized Fulton County campuses has not been published by the district.
