Chef David Soon and partner Marcus Bifaro have opened Tre Fratelli at 3 South Main St., filling one of downtown Alpharetta's most visible restaurant spaces with Italian comfort food and $12 spritzes, the North Atlanta Star reported.

The restaurant opened in July at the intersection of Main and Academy streets and is already appearing among the more-booked Alpharetta restaurants on OpenTable's listings.

Bifaro is a familiar name in the downtown dining corridor. He spent years at South Main Kitchen, the restaurant that helped establish the district as a destination, and his return puts him steps from the Town Green, Brooke Street Park and Alpharetta City Center.

The menu

Tre Fratelli is a neighborhood Italian spot, not a special-occasion dining room. The kitchen turns out chicken Parmesan, penne vodka, short-rib ragù and ricotta dumplings.

On the drinks side, Aperol, limoncello, Hugo and Venetian spritzes run $12 each. Cocktails include a blonde Negroni, espresso martini and Amaro sour. The wine list spans Italian regions including Tuscany, Piedmont, Veneto, Lombardy and Abruzzo, plus several American bottles.

The space has history

The address has cycled through several restaurant concepts. Butcher & Brew, the gastropub founded by Louis Soon's Maven Restaurant Group, debuted there in 2016 before relocating to Halcyon. Academy Bar occupied the space most recently before Tre Fratelli took over.

The opening adds to a busy stretch for Italian dining in Alpharetta. Fiorenza opened on Webb Bridge Way in July with a Tuscan focus, according to Rough Draft Atlanta, making two new Italian restaurants in the same month.

One early OpenTable reviewer called the restaurant "an absolute gem right in the middle of downtown Alpharetta."

Hours and reservations

Tre Fratelli serves dinner Monday through Thursday, 5 to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 5 to 10 p.m. The restaurant is closed Sunday. Reservations are available on OpenTable, and diners can call (678) 579-5963.
