A 42-year-old Roswell woman faces felony cocaine possession and obstruction charges after Alpharetta police found her vehicle facing the wrong direction and blocking center lanes of Georgia 400 near Haynes Bridge Road on Aug. 1.

Officers responding to the single-vehicle crash observed signs of intoxication, according to a report by Appen Media staff reporter Jon Wilcox. When the woman allegedly attempted to walk away from the scene, officers handcuffed her.

A search turned up a plastic bag containing 5 grams of suspected cocaine in her pants pocket, police said. Officers also reported finding drug paraphernalia.

The woman was transported to the Alpharetta Detention Center and charged with possession of cocaine and obstruction or resisting arrest. Under Georgia law, cocaine is a Schedule II controlled substance, and a first-offense possession charge can carry one to 15 years in prison.
