That pothole on Old Milton Parkway belongs to the state, not Alpharetta.
Several of the busiest roads through Alpharetta and Milton are state highways maintained by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), as the North Atlanta Star reported. Old Milton Parkway is Ga. 120. Peachtree Parkway carries the Ga. 141 designation. Alpharetta Highway and portions of Main Street are part of Ga. 9. All remain under GDOT even inside city limits. Residents can report problems on state routes through GDOT's contact page.
Most neighborhood streets inside city limits are city-maintained. Alpharetta residents can file non-emergency reports through SeeClickFix. Milton offers a Report a Problem tool on its website. If a request reaches the wrong agency, the city may redirect it to GDOT or another entity.
Private roads are nobody's government responsibility. Georgia law, under O.C.G.A. § 32-1-8, prohibits any county or municipal official from authorizing maintenance of a private road. Homeowners unsure of their road's status can check subdivision plats, closing documents or HOA covenants.
For immediate hazards, call 911.
