Downtown Alpharetta has a new sushi spot. Monkey 68, the modern Asian fusion restaurant that started in a converted historic house in Roswell, has opened its second location at 160 N. Main St.
The restaurant blends Japanese sushi traditions with Chinese, Korean and other Asian flavors, according to a North Atlanta Star profile published Tuesday, July 28. The Alpharetta outpost bills itself as an izakaya, sushi and craft cocktails concept, according to its website, and adds omakase dining and a bluefin tuna cutting ceremony to the mix.
An Instagram post from Friday, July 17 announced a soft opening in July 2026, and online reviews on the restaurant's site date to mid-June, suggesting the kitchen has been serving guests for several weeks. Ownership information was not publicly available through the business's online presence or public records.
What's on the menu
The signature rolls give a sense of the kitchen's range. The namesake Monkey 68 roll layers shrimp tempura, spicy lump crab and smoked wagyu with truffle salt, sesame oil and green onion. The Gangnam Style pairs short ribs and fried kimchi with miso aioli, pickled cucumber and seared ribeye.
Seafood-forward options include the Rolls Royce (lobster tempura, crab salad, avocado, snow crab, chili threads) and She-Sho Fresh (salmon, red snapper, pickled shiso, cucumber, cilantro, lemon juice, sea salt).
Small plates lean into contrast: yellowtail jalapeño shots with balsamic pearls and honey yuzu, a cucumber "lollipop" stuffed with spicy tuna and mango, and smoked toro finished with hickory smoke and pickled wasabi.
The full bar features handcrafted cocktails inspired by the Chinese zodiac, plus wine, beer and sake. A $95 omakase special is available, according to the restaurant's Instagram page, offering chef-interaction dining at the sushi bar.

The Alpharetta location is open Tuesday through Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m., according to the restaurant's website. Closed Monday.
