Milton’s annual Rivers Alive cleanup brought more than two dozen volunteers to Providence Park on Sunday, Oct. 18, collecting an estimated 400 pounds of debris.

The haul exceeded last year’s total by roughly 100 pounds, according to the city’s recap. Volunteers collected litter around the lake, along creeks and on trails throughout the 42-acre park.

City officials thanked participants and reported favorable weather for the cleanup.

The event is part of Rivers Alive, a statewide effort to enlist volunteers in protecting Georgia’s waterways. The program operates through the Georgia Environmental Protection Division’s Outreach Unit.
