Milton’s volleyball team finished its season 26–12 after falling 3–2 to Creekview in the second round of the GHSA Class 6A state playoffs Tuesday, Oct. 20.
The Eagles had opened the tournament with a 3–0 sweep of Glynn Academy on Saturday, Oct. 17, according to their MaxPreps schedule.
Creekview earned its second-round matchup by winning another five-set contest, beating Greenbrier 3–2 on the road Oct. 17, the Augusta Chronicle reported. The Grizzlies advance to the quarterfinals, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24, on the GHSA calendar.
Milton went 3–3 in Region 7-6A and placed fourth. Score Atlanta ranked the Eagles No. 8 in Class 6A in its Oct. 13 pre-playoff poll.
The Eagles began the season with 12 consecutive victories, including wins over Cherokee, Fellowship Christian and Sequoyah. Denmark handed Milton its first loss Aug. 20.
September brought a tougher stretch. Milton lost six consecutive matches from Sept. 9–12, falling to Riverwood, Blessed Trinity, North Cobb, Brookwood, Northgate and Science Hill. A win over Bremen ended that skid, but losses to Alpharetta and Dunwoody left the Eagles at 20–11.
Milton then won its final five regular-season matches, beating Lanier twice and adding victories over Chamblee, Riverwood and Alpharetta. The opening-round sweep of Glynn Academy extended that winning streak to six before Creekview ended the Eagles’ postseason run.
