Milton enters its Region 7-6A opener ranked No. 5 in the Georgia Public Broadcasting Class 6A football poll released Monday, Sept. 21.

The Eagles (3-1) are one of two Region 7-6A teams in the GPB top 10. Roswell sits at No. 8 with the same record. Thomas County Central (4-0) holds the top spot, followed by Lee County (4-0), Creekside (3-1) and Coffee (4-0).

Milton's lone loss came by a single point.

The Eagles fell 21-20 at Blessed Trinity in Week 2, a team now ranked No. 16 in the Sports Illustrated Georgia Top 25 with a 4-0 record. Milton opened the season with a 30-29 comeback win over North Cobb, which has since climbed to No. 24 in the SI state poll at 3-1. The Eagles then beat Cambridge 53-21 and Battle Ground Academy (Tenn.) 42-21 before a bye week.

Quarterback Derrick Baker, a Tennessee commit, has thrown for 897 yards through four games, according to MaxPreps. Baker threw for 318 yards and five touchdowns in the Sept. 4 win over Cambridge, according to Sports Illustrated's Georgia rankings. Senior wide receiver Jordan Carrasquillo leads the offense with 107.5 receiving yards per game and five touchdowns. Running back Sheldon Atchison adds 71.0 rushing yards per game.

On defense, junior safety Christian Edwards averages 11.3 tackles per game. Senior Roman Tumminia has recorded 3.5 sacks.

The program won back-to-back GHSA state titles in Class 7A (2023) and Class 5A (2024) before an 8-4 finish in 2025. Milton moved to Class 6A for the 2026 reclassification cycle and returns 15 of 22 starters from last season, according to an Appen Media preseason preview. Head coach Ben Reaves called the 2025 season "a good cleanse" in that Aug. 11 preview, saying it was what the team needed to return to title contention.

Milton leads the Region 7-6A standings heading into Friday, Sept. 25, when the Eagles travel to Johns Creek (1-3) for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. Milton hosts Lanier on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7:30 p.m.
