Milton families can learn about saving, investing and avoiding scams at four free workshops starting Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Milton Library.

Edward Jones financial advisor Arpit Shah is leading the series, which runs through Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the library at 855 Mayfield Road. Registration is open through the Fulton County Library System website.

The first session, at 2 p.m. Sept. 26, targets young learners with lessons on saving and spending. Three evening sessions follow at 6 p.m. each: investing fundamentals on Monday, Sept. 28; spotting financial scams and protecting personal information on Tuesday, Oct. 27; and navigating market volatility on Tuesday, Nov. 10. All four sessions are free.

Shah moved to the Milton area from Memphis after spending more than 22 years at FedEx. He said his own investing gave him the freedom to change careers, Appen Media reported.

Leaving a good salary was the hardest part, Shah told Appen Media, "but then knowing that I had done well and it would allow me to sustain this lifestyle for my family … knowing that made the decision a little easier."

Shah also founded an investment club at Northwestern Middle School, his daughter's school, and mentored a financial club at Alpharetta High School. He said early exposure to budgeting, savings and compounding can put kids on a stronger financial track.

Residents can register at the Fulton County Library System website or call the Milton Library at (404) 613-0125.
