Milton's football team carries a 3-1 record and a two-game winning streak into its first Region 7-AAAAAA game of the season Friday, Sept. 25, at Johns Creek.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Eagles, ranked No. 8 in the state by MaxPreps, are coming off a bye week after back-to-back wins. Senior quarterback Derrick Baker, a Tennessee commit, threw for 318 yards and five touchdowns in a 53-21 win over Cambridge on Sept. 4. He then accounted for five total touchdowns in a 42-21 road win at Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, Tennessee, on Sept. 11.

Baker has 897 passing yards in four games. Milton's lone loss came by a single point to Blessed Trinity. The season opener against North Cobb was also decided by one point, a win.

"I'm standing back there (in the pocket) like I'm sitting on the couch," Baker told Vols on SI after the Battle Ground Academy game, crediting his offensive line and receivers.

Baker missed nearly all of the 2025 season after injuring his wrist in the opener against Buford. Head coach Ben Reaves called last year's 8-4 finish and second-round playoff exit "a good cleanse" in an August preseason interview with Appen Media, saying it was what the team needed to return to state championship contention. Milton brought back 15 of 22 starters this fall.

Senior wide receiver Jordan Carrasquillo leads the team with 107.5 receiving yards per game. Senior running back Sheldon Atchison averages 71.0 rushing yards per game.

Four-star tight end Grant Haviland, a Vanderbilt commit, gives Baker another target in the passing game. On defense, junior safety Christian Edwards leads Milton with 11.3 tackles per game. Senior linebacker Roman Tumminia has 3.5 sacks.

Johns Creek enters the game at 1-3 after beating Northview 24-17 in its opener Aug. 21 and dropping three straight, according to MaxPreps. The Gladiators lost to Centennial 54-18, to fellow Region 7-AAAAAA member Mountain View 36-2 and to Chattahoochee 26-18.

The region includes eight teams: Alpharetta, Gainesville, Johns Creek, Lanier, Milton, Mountain View, Riverwood and Roswell. Region results determine playoff seeding for the GHSA Class 6A state tournament.

After Friday's game, Milton returns home to host Lanier on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7:30 p.m.
