A Fulton County judge granted a $200,000 bond on Friday, Sept. 11, to 15-year-old KJ Biermann Jr., who faces seven felony charges stemming from an alleged sexual assault at an Alpharetta gym.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Melynee Leftridge set the bond despite prosecutors' opposition, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. Biermann Jr., the son of former Atlanta Falcons player Kroy Biermann and former "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Kim Zolciak, had been held at Atlanta's Metro Regional Youth Detention Center since his Aug. 17 arrest.
The bond carries multiple conditions. Biermann Jr. must remain at his Alpharetta home, attend school virtually, wear a GPS ankle monitor and surrender his passport to his attorney. The court prohibited him from using a cell phone or posting on social media. He is barred from any contact with the alleged victim, her family or anyone 16 or younger.
The bond order also prohibits anyone under 16, including Biermann Jr.'s siblings, from living in or visiting the home, WSB-TV reported.
Prosecutors had asked the judge to deny bond entirely. Deputy District Attorney Caitlin McGillicuddy told the court, "I don't believe there are any conditions that you can put on him for bond that would adequately safeguard potential future victims, including those that are close to him, including people who know him."
Defense attorney Jason Sheffield had requested $65,000 bond. Prosecutors countered with $190,000 before the judge set the figure at $200,000, according to Page Six.
A Fulton County grand jury indicted Biermann Jr. on Sept. 3 on seven felony counts: aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, three counts of sexual battery against a child under 16 and false imprisonment. The charges stem from an alleged incident in April at a Life Time Fitness on North Point Parkway in Alpharetta. Prosecutors allege Biermann Jr. locked a 14-year-old girl in a private family changing room and subjected her to a forcible sexual assault. Medical records documented physical injuries to the alleged victim, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
During the hearing, prosecutors also disclosed that Biermann Jr. had been under juvenile court supervision since October 2025 in connection with a separate 2023 case involving a family member. That supervision was set to expire in 2027.
Sheffield pushed back on the characterization of the prior case. He told Page Six that "the characterizations made in court regarding the prior juvenile matter involving KJ Biermann grossly misrepresent both the facts and the ultimate resolution of that case."
Prosecutors also told the court that the alleged victim had received harassing anonymous Snapchat messages urging her to drop the charges, raising concerns about witness intimidation.
The judge denied a defense request to close the courtroom but prohibited photos or video of the defendant, other minors, or family members in the gallery. She also signaled she would consider a potential gag order.
Zolciak was present in court and was escorted out by deputies. She did not answer reporters' questions.
Biermann Jr.'s legal team has filed a separate motion to transfer the case to juvenile court. He is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 14. No trial date has been set.
