Alpharetta and Milton parents heading into a consequential fall for Fulton County Schools now have a chance to sit down directly with their elected board member at monthly community meetings scheduled for August.
The district announced the meetings Wednesday, Aug. 12, via its official account on X, directing families to fultonschools.org/board for the full schedule of dates, times and locations.
Unlike formal board work sessions or regular board meetings, these community meetings are sponsored individually by each board member and open to the public. They give residents a direct conversation with their elected representative about local issues and concerns, according to the district's board of education page.
Why it matters this fall
The meetings land in the first weeks of the 2026-27 school year, which began Monday, Aug. 3, and ahead of a November E-SPLOST referendum tied to a roughly $1.27 billion capital plan. The district has not announced specific agenda topics for the August community meetings.
Alpharetta High School, Milton High School and Cambridge High School are among the campuses with planned projects under that capital plan, which covers technology, facilities, safety and security, transportation and school construction.
The district's current E-SPLOST allocation totals $803.5 million within a $2.46 billion total budget for fiscal year 2026. Local property taxes fund more than 60% of the operating budget.

What these meetings are not
The community meetings are separate from the board work session held Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the North Learning Center in Sandy Springs and from the next formal board meeting scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 20, at the South Learning Center, 4025 Flat Shoals Road, Union City. Board meetings are streamed on the FCS homepage, with agendas posted on Simbli.
Board President Kristin McCabe, who told North Fulton Today on Aug. 6 that the district's Georgia Milestones gains show "our continued investment in student achievement is making a difference," leads a seven-member board whose individual community meetings rotate across the county each month.
What families should do
The full August schedule, including the specific meeting date and location for the Alpharetta-Milton area, is posted at fultonschools.org/board. Families can also watch for updates from the @FultonCoSchools account on X.
The next formal board action is the Aug. 20 meeting in Union City.
