Four Alpharetta neighborhoods near Webb Bridge Road could get stronger water pressure under a proposed Fulton County pump station, and residents can meet face-to-face with county engineers on Tuesday, Aug. 18, to hear the details.
Fulton County Public Works announced the proposed Preston Ridge Booster Pump Site on Aug. 4, saying the facility would improve water pressure and flow for the four neighborhoods located near or on Webb Bridge Road.
The county has not publicly named the specific subdivisions.
The department is hosting a drop-in community session on Aug. 18 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ocee / Dr. Robert E. Fulton Library, 5090 Abbotts Bridge Road, Johns Creek. The one-on-one format lets residents ask Public Works staff about the station's design, how it will operate and what changes they can expect in their water service.
No project cost, construction timeline or design renderings have been released publicly. According to the county's announcement, those details will be shared at the Aug. 18 meeting, which is a community engagement step rather than a post-approval announcement.
Part of a $278 million infrastructure push
The pump station fits into a broader capital improvement program that Fulton County Public Works has mapped out for North Fulton. The county has identified 46 water and wastewater projects to be completed by 2050 at an estimated cost of $278 million across five phases that began in 2025, according to Appen Media reporting on a rate increase approved last year.
Public Works Director David Clark told Appen Media in October 2025, when the Board of Commissioners approved a rate increase to fund the work, that the master plan identified "a number of projects … to have increased water pressure and volume to many areas of North Fulton that sometimes have issues."
The rate increases funding those projects added about $3.27 per month for an average customer using 5,000 gallons, bringing the typical monthly bill from roughly $86.72 in 2025 to $89.99 in 2026. Water and sewer services in North Fulton are funded entirely through customer fees, not property taxes or general fund dollars.
The North Fulton system serves approximately 81,085 water customers across Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton and Roswell, with peak demand currently around 47 million gallons per day. County projections show that figure rising 34 percent to 63 million gallons per day by 2050.
