Cambridge football will make program history Thursday, Aug. 13, when the Bears take the field at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for their first-ever Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic appearance, facing Brookwood at 5 p.m.

The game opens a doubleheader at the downtown Atlanta venue, with Walton meeting Roswell at 8 p.m. in the nightcap. The midweek schedule is unusual. Stadium commitments tied to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Atlanta United and summer concerts pushed the 35th-anniversary Classic off its traditional opening weekend and into a Wednesday-Thursday format, according to the North Atlanta Star.

Head coach Tyler Jones leads the Bears into the showcase after coming to Cambridge from Walton, where his offenses averaged 42.4 points and 451 yards per game over two seasons. When Jones was hired, Walton head coach Daniel Brunner called him "one of the greatest offensive minds in the state" in a statement on the Cambridge athletic website.

Getting there

Mercedes-Benz Stadium recommends MARTA as the easiest option for North Fulton families. The fare is $2.50 each way, and fans should exit at the SEC District Station (formerly the GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN Center stop), which drops riders at the stadium's front door.

Parking is available but can fill up and get expensive close to kickoff. Pre-purchasing a spot is strongly recommended.

Bag rules

The stadium enforces its standard NFL clear-bag policy. Bags must be clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and cannot exceed 12 by 6 by 12 inches. A one-gallon clear freezer bag also works. Small non-clear clutches no larger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches are allowed alongside a clear bag. Everything else stays outside.

Fans who arrive with a non-compliant bag can store it with the Mobile Locker Company outside Gate 1 on Northside Drive or outside Gate 2 on Andrew Young International Boulevard. That service opens at 3 p.m., two hours before kickoff.

Inside the stadium

Gates open at 4 p.m. Once inside, families can visit the GHSA Football Wall at Section 127, which displays helmets from high school programs across the state. Find the Cambridge helmet, snap a photo and head to your seats.

The opponent

Brookwood is no stranger to this stage. The Snellville program has appeared in the Classic every year since its 1992 founding. The Broncos, coached by Chad Nighbert, went 8-2 in the 2025 regular season.

What's next

Cambridge's Week 2 opponent has not been confirmed in available schedules. The Classic continues Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Kell High School and Thursday, Aug. 20, at Blessed Trinity before wrapping up Friday, Aug. 21, at Center Parc Stadium.
