Alpharetta shut out Riverwood 33-0 on Friday, Oct. 2, giving the Raiders a Homecoming win and their first region victory of the season.

The result moved Alpharetta to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in GHSA Region 7-AAAAAA, according to MaxPreps. It also marked a sharp turnaround from the previous week, when the Raiders fell 50-0 at Gainesville, which was ranked in the state's top 25 at the time.

First-year head coach Danny Carlisle now has two wins in his debut season at Alpharetta High School. His first came Sept. 11, a 17-16 win over Duluth.

Carlisle arrived in February after three seasons at Chattahoochee High School, where he compiled a 10-22 record but led the Cougars to their best season in a decade with a 5-5 mark in his second year, Appen Media reported. He is the Raiders' third head football coach in three years, Principal Mike Scheifflee said at Carlisle's February introduction.

"This area is very special to me, and I really think [this program] can be like a Milton," Carlisle said at his Feb. 3 community introduction at Alpharetta High School. "My next job is retirement on the beach."

The Raiders opened 2026 with three straight losses: 37-23 at Kennesaw Mountain, 38-19 to Denmark and 42-24 at Centennial. The Duluth win on Sept. 11 broke the skid before a bye week. Then came the lopsided loss at Gainesville to open region play.

Against Riverwood, the defense posted its first shutout of the season.

Junior Kyron Pipes Jr. leads the Raiders through six games with 56 total points and 354 return yards, per MaxPreps. Junior running back Nick DePietro transferred from Johns Creek, where he rushed for more than 1,000 yards as a sophomore. Carlisle tagged him as the team's expected "workhorse" at the July 24 Fulton County Schools media day.

Junior offensive lineman Calvin Landy Jr. has drawn Power 4 college offers from Georgia, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia Tech and North Carolina, according to an Appen Media season preview.

Alpharetta hosts Roswell in a region game Friday, Oct. 9, at 7:30 p.m. The Raiders then travel to Milton on Oct. 16, visit Johns Creek on Oct. 30 and close the regular season at home against Lanier on Nov. 6, all at 7:30 p.m.
