Alpharetta Elementary School is asking former students, staff, and community members to dig through their closets and photo albums and send in pictures from the school's seven decades on Mayfield Road.

The Fulton County Schools campus is preparing for a 70th anniversary celebration on Friday, October 23, from 3 to 5 p.m., according to an announcement posted on the school's website on Tuesday, July 28. The school wants old photos and memorabilia in hand well before the event.

Submissions can be emailed to [email protected] or dropped off at the school at 192 Mayfield Rd., Alpharetta, GA 30009, according to a separate call for photos posted the same day. The school warns that physical donations will not be returned.

No submission deadline has been announced.

What to expect October 23

The anniversary event is open to everyone. The school's announcement invites attendees to walk the halls and revisit the campus where generations of Alpharetta families spent their elementary years. Alumni are asked to RSVP through a Google Form linked in the school's announcement.

A Pre-K through fifth-grade campus with deep roots

A 70th anniversary places the school's founding around 1956, when Alpharetta was a small town far from the suburban growth it would later see. The campus has since grown into a Pre-K through fifth-grade school enrolling 498 students with about 46 classroom teachers during the 2024–2025 school year, according to federal education data. Its student-teacher ratio sits at approximately 11 to 1.

Alpharetta Elementary feeds into Hopewell Middle School and Northwestern Middle School, then into Cambridge High School and Milton High School. The school's Fulton County Board of Education representative is Lillie Pozatek, District 2.
